If you are like me, you love playing gigs and are not so fond of going after people to book your concerts. Whether you are new to the music business or are an established musician with tons of experience in the industry, it can be tiring and, sometimes, frustrating, trying to book your performances going to each restaurant, cafe or even professional venue and openly asking managers if they can give you a gig. Here’s what you can start doing right away. Whenever you see a bar, a restaurant or whatever venue you’d like to play at, you can either take note of its name and address or even pop inside and ask for a business card. Then, go to your computer and find them on facebook. These days all businesses have a facebook account.
They even ask you to join them in all their ads! Did you see that?
Now, you can just ask for friendship or send a message saying: “Hello, I stumbled on your beautiful bar (restaurant, theater etc…) and I would be delighted to add you as a friend in my profile. Have a great day, your name.”
Did you notice that I did not say anything like: “Hi, I was wondering if you are looking for musicians…”?
This tactic is called “Attraction Marketing”. You just communicate with your potential clients just letting them know about you, your profile and, of course, your value. Only people who find you “attractive” will get in touch with you and will be absolutely delighted to have you perform in their premises.
So how’s that as a plan for your coming years. Just go ahead and start looking for venues, festivals and any other opportunity you believe might be an brilliant medium to give you and your band the exposure you deserve.
